On November 19,2021, the Chongqing Science and Technology Award conference was held, and the 2020 Chongqing Science and Technology Award was officially announced. Chen Miner, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, attended the conference and presented awards to the winners. Tang Liangzhi, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing delivered a speech to congratulate and pay tribute to the winners. The number of first prize achievements led by Chongqing University reached a record high of 16, 4 more than in 2019, accounting for 50% of the number of first prizes in the city.

In the Chongqing Science and Technology Award Conference, the project "Theory of high pressure water Jet crushing deep coal rock and key technology and application of Reforming low permeability gas reservoir" led by Chongqing University and professor Ge Zhaolong from The College of Resources and Safety as the first person to complete won the first prize of Chongqing Science and Technology Progress. The project "Landslide disaster inducing mechanism and intelligent monitoring and early warning technology and application in mining area" was jointly tackled by the cooperative enterprise and Chongqing University with Professor Chen Jie from The College of Resources and Safety as the first person to complete the project, and won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress of Chongqing.

It is reported that the 2020 Chongqing Science and Technology Award has selected a total of 153 award-winning achievements (enterprises), including 29 natural science awards, 6 technological invention awards, 115 science and technology progress awards; 32 first prizes, 60 second prizes and 58 third prizes; Enterprise technology innovation award 3.
